Seoul Day 3 : Bukchon Hanok Village (북촌한옥마을), Insadong (인사동), Ssamziegil, Jogyesa Temple, Dongdaemon & Doota (두산타워)

Day 3

Yes! It is freezing cold 7'c at 3+pm in the bright afternoon !

After our lunch at Tosokchon (토속촌), we head to Bukchon Hanok Village (북촌한옥마을)
Basically it is quite near from Gyeongbokgung Station, which is only 1 station to Anguk Station.

Third destination of the day is to Bukchon Hanok Village (북촌한옥마을)
From Gyeongbokgung Station, we stop at Anguk Station.  It took us  2 Minutes subway ride, 1 stations stops which cost us KWR 1,050 @ RM 2.90
Departure from Gyeongbokgung Station--> Arrival at Anguk Station, exit 2. Go Straight for about 300m to arrive at Bukchon Hanok Village.

If u don't mind walking, it might take u around 15 min walk depends on your walking speed. But because the weather is too freezing cold, we still prefer to go for subway without the cold breeze.

At the same Insadong street, you will reach Ssamziegil, which has been marked as the 'Special Insa-dong within Insa-dong'. This unique area was designed in such a way by connecting its charming alleys in the form of a spiral-like stairway

Last destination of the day is Dongdaemon & Doota (두산타워) area.
I forgotten all about Dongdaemon close at 8pm everyday.
By the time we reach Dongdaemon area, the shops is already close.
Hence, we went to Doota, AM. PM shopping center instead. These shopping center open until early morning 3+am..

But my own opinion, shopping this area is too expensive for me. The seller here markup their price extremely high just like how our Chinatown in Malaysia is.
If you are really great in bargaining, then you can come here and buy...or else, it is advisable to buy elsewhere which the price-tag is clearly shown on the goods. For example, i saw the same shirt in gangnam underground subway shops for KWR 5,000..but in AM PM it is sold KWR 30,000 !
Hence it is advisable to scan the price elsewhere before purchasing in dongdaemon area. At least you roughly know what is the market price so you won't be paying extra.

We had our dinner at this shop nearby AM PM.

You have to walk down the stairs to go to the restaurant.

Pack with locals

Seems there's some local artist came to this shop
Squid Rice

Kimchi Jigae

Cold noodles..
The food was good....or maybe we are just too hungry since we have early lunch !

Day 3 was a fruitful day as the places we went was great for photography !
Love the Palace...Love the Hanok Village...Love how Insadong & Ssamziegil is decorated !
Won't get it here in Malaysia..

To Be Continune....

  1. Hi, can you lists a few budget shopping areas that are worth visiting? I only able to spend 5 full days @ Seoul. So, I will to plan which area I can allocate more time and which can be just touch & go type.

Earlier I was thinking of staying area Dongdaemun area where I can walk over to shop till late at night after back from day trip. Maybe I should reconsider since the things sell there is expensive and guesthouses also not cheap at that area. Pls advice.

    Thank you.

  2. mandy,

for me, "hongyik" or also known as "hongdae" will be my first choice. 2nd will be myeongdong, meanwhile, dongdaemon will be my last cz the things they sell there is expensive...unless u are extremly good in bargaining with their language, then u can go there..as most of the things they mark up are extremly high..."gangnam underground shopping center" is a good choice to look around too as sometimes u can get cheap deals for clothes... u just take subway to "gangnam"..and u will reach their underground shopping area... :")
