Seoul Day 2 : Noryangjin Fish Market (노량진시장) , Myeongdong Cathedral & Myeongdong Shopping

Day 2

The signs to various places nearby Noryangjin Fish Market

The sunrise in Seoul is earlier than Malaysia. Looking out at the window, the sun is already shinning as bright as 9+am, when my watch is only showing 7+am..
Woke up we did & preparing a simple light breakfast since Ann's gave us a loft of bread with butter & jam.. Well, this indeed help us to save a little for breakfast before we start our journey to 3 places :

a) Noryangjin Fish Market (노량진시장)
b) Myeongdong Cathedral
c) Myeongdong Shopping

First destination of the day is to Noryangjin Fish Market (노량진시장).
From Hongyik Station, we stop at Noryangjin Station.  It took us  27 Minutes subway ride, 9 stations stops which cost us KWR 1,050 @ RM 2.90
Departure from Hongyik Station --> Transfer train to Sindorim Station --> Arrival at Noryangjin Station.

Once reach the Noryangjin Station, Take Exit 1

Once your train reach Noryangjin Station, take exit 1...look for a footbridge over the railway tracks which looks something like this below:

The footbridge to crossover the railway tracks which lead to Noryanjing Fish market

At last Jayyden is here :)
Along the bridge, you can see this vintage movie advertisement.

Looking from above.

Various seafood to scan !

Prawn for 1kg :KWR 25,000 @ RM 75

Some TV program is having a film shot @ the market with the unknown host.

Salmon stall

Really interesting even just looking at the various seafood which sold t

Squid

We're here :)

This fish market is interesting for us. Even though it is not as nice as Sydney's Fish Market, yet i still love it as well :)
You can purchase the seafood on the spot & asked the restaurant beside the fish stall to cook for you with a certain amount of price.
We didn't purchase any of the seafood as it is still too early for us to eat heavy seafood for early lunch, instead we went to purchase this delicious local food at the nearby foodstall beside the road.

Cooking yummy mix rice.

Various to choose.

Our simple KWR 2,500 @ RM7.50 rice with egg

The food taste is good and affordable too! It is hard to get filling food (With rice) for KWR 2,500.  Mostly the cheapest normal filling food (Kimchi Jigae - Kimchi Soup with Rice) will roughly cost us KWR 5,000 to KWR 6,000 (RM 15 - RM 18)

Second destination of the day is to  Myeongdong Cathedral.
From Noryangjin Station, we stop at Myeongdong Station.  It took us  20 Minutes subway ride, 5 stations stops which cost us KWR 1,050 @ RM 2.90
Departure from Noryangjin Station --> Transfer train to Seoul Station --> Arrival at Myeongdong Station.

At Myeongdong station.

Best buddies @ Myeongdong street.
Myeongdong Catherdal is actually situated at myeongdong shopping area.
A lovely church which is great for photography if you're somewhere near here.

And we even have confession time

Confession Time..:(

The beautiful myeongdong cathedral from backview.

After our photography session at myeongdong cathedral, we're hungry again.
Went to the a local korean restaurant nearby which is the cheapest we could find (between KWR 5,000 to KWR 7,000)

Our late lunch is full-filling :)
Continue with our shopping spread at Myeongdong area.
The sky is slowly turning dark; more and more street stalls is open in the middle of myeongdong street.

My advise, shopping in myeongdong is slightly expensive compare to hongyik area (for clothing)
To get cheap affordable clothing (no brand), there are a few underground-subway-shop in gangnam subway which sell between KWR 5,000 - KWR 10,000 (RM 15 - RM 30)
I got myself a slightly thick longsleeve clothe (since it is freezing cold) for KWR 5,000 (RM 15) and a short jeans for KWR 10,000 (RM30) at gangnam subway underground shopping.
The best was, you do not need to bargain as there is already a price-tag. Hence you know that you're not being slaughter like how dongdaemon shopping area slaughter their customer.

Nevertheless, didn't expected to spend half of our day at myeongdong area as i am not a shopper myself.

This is what i got myself for the past 2 days:

A bag & buy 1 free 1, Missha BB Cream
And this is what my friend got for himself for the past 2 days:

Scary? If you're a person who love comestic, then this is a place to get great affordable comestic :)

This wrap up our 2nd day in Seoul which is full-filling :)

To Be Continue....

  2. Hello Jayden
I know your trip took place 2 yrs ago but I just give it a try anyway to make a check. Like you ive no intention of dining at the Norgyanjin Market proper. Ill be there just for a look see. Did you notice whether there were any other restaurants outside and around the market where we can have lunch/dinner. If there isn't, we'll have our meals before we make our way there. Thank you.

    1. Hi. Thank q very much for dropping by. No worries. There are shops around there outside the markets. We did not have our meal inside the market. Instead, we had ours outside the market. :)
