Seoul Day 6 : Namsan Seoul Tower (남산타워) , Garosu-Gil

Day 6

Namsan Seoul Tower (남산타워)

Today is a more relaxing day for us as we will only be covering :

a) Namsan Seoul Tower (남산타워)
b) Garosu-Gil

Both places is in the City town itself, at least we could take our time.

Garuso-Gil is actually a trendy, tree-lined street filled with charming cafe. Popular among locals as a fashionable place to shop. Since we haven't been there yet & the place is highly promoted by the tourist brochure, we decided to check it out.

From Hongyik Station , we stop at Sinsa (신사역) Station.  It took us  34 Minutes subway ride, 14 stations stops which cost us KWR 1,150 @ RM 3.45
Departure from Hongyik Station--> Transfer @ Euljiro 3 (Sam)-Ga --> Arrival at Sinsa Station, Exit 8.

Sinsa Station, Exit 8

It was still early when we reach Sinsa, so we decided to have a good cup of coffee at Caffe Bene to start our day...

Various cakes & coffee to choose

There's a small section of books for you to read

Korean's Petrol Station.

Check out what's hanging there !!
It was a brief scroll along Garosu-Gil, which frankly speaking i don't fancy that much.
Maybe because i am not a shopaholic. I prefer photography & trying out their local food.
So cut our journey short, we head to Namsan Seoul Tower.

From Apgujeong (압구정) Station , we stop at Myeongdong Station.  It took us 17 Minutes subway ride, 6 stations stops which cost us KWR 1,050 @ RM 3.15
Departure from Apgujeong Station--> Transfer @ Chungmuro Station--> Arrival at Myeongdong Station, Exit 3. Take road to the right of Pacific Hotel and walk up the hill towards the N-Tower that you will be able to see from afar. There will be signboard inform the way to Namsan Tower. This walk-up hill took us around 15minutes walk, it might take longer or faster to one's speed.

The very small signboard "Namsan Cable Car"

But on the way heading up the tower, we stop by to have our lunch.

This shop is selling local food at affordable price which is delicious too.

The very local shop selling very local korean food.

After our heavy lunch, it is time for us to continue climb towards the cable car station. Once  we reach the Cable car station,  we paid for the Cable Car Return ticket = KWR 8,000 (RM 24)

Love this poster !

Overall, 7D6N trip to Seoul is totally budget.
For total RM 2,944 nett ( Return flight ticket, Accommodation, admission fees, transportation, food & light shopping), i had a great time there capturing the special moment !
Not to mention having my two buddies traveling together ! It is memorable fun !

After my past experience traveling on tour and budget backpacking, i still prefer backpacking.
I get to learn more things, be adventurous and venture locally ! Yes. Indeed we have to do survey months back and get the best rates we could find for accommodations. It is fun & exciting !

When you have doubts or lost, seek for answer & it will be given to you..Traveling makes you more independent & you will be able to learn the local culture of that particular country in details.

Well, that wraps up our 7D6N Seoul trip for now..
More to come ....soon...... :)

  3. Hello, Thank you for your kind upload. Im going to Korea this coming Nov and was wondering if RM2500 is enough for 2 person (exclude the airfare & accommodations as we have book it earlier).

  4. Hi,
You are most welcome.. if for me RM 1,250 for 1 pax is enough (for food, transportation, bit of shopping) as i am not a huge shopper myself.
But if you are a huge shopper, you can exchange more. You still can used credit card at their shopping center. But if you're at those market like dongdaemon, some shops you need to pay cash.

Their food portion is huge, so you can call just 1 dish to share..and buy tibbits beside their roadside if you come across :)

    1. Hi

I've been to both busan & seoul few times..
Yet each trip, none of me and friends know how to speak or even read korean at all.. just few simple "ann yeong ha se yo" & "kam sa ham nida (Thx q)..

Normally we speak english to the locals, if they don't understand.. we speak mandarin..cz nowdays they are learning mandarin....if still they don't understand..only then we used our "google translate"..it is very very useful !

  7. Hi Jayyden

Found your blog by accident. Loved your review on Seoul and Busan. I will also be doing F&E with my sis coming March2015. May I ask is it better to stay in Nampo area if we are more into eating and shopping ? As for Seoul, is Hongyik are better to stay in than Myeong Dong area?

    1. hi, thank you very much for dropping...
In busan, i advise to stay in nampo..exspecially the hostel that we stay.behind our very hostel is the busiest shopping area in nampo! so it is very very strategicly located.
As for seoul, it is better to stay in ANN's place in hongyik! i've stay in myeongdong before..but comparing myeongdong & Hongyik..hongyik is way much better...the things sell there is cheaper than myeongdong area..cz hongyik is actually a student area as there is a uni nearby there.. :)

    1. Ka sing,
Thank you very much for dropping by. Since currency has increase this few years..I would suggest it might be slighly higher than the last I went on 2013 to seoul.
Below is my budget for my trip, so u roughly have to add a little more.I am not a shopholic myself, so my budget is just nice for return ticket +accomodation + transportation + food + light shopping.
      7d6n to seoul on 2013 = rm3380 (return flight : rm809 + stay 6n : 515 + currency exchange : rm2056)
      4d3n in busan on 2015 = rm1979 (return flight : 665.08 + 4n stay : 513.99 + currency exchange : 800)
All of it is for 1 pax.
As long as u manage to book the flight ticket cheap, then it shld be ok. Accommodation u can book through airbnb.com cheaper than hotels and better than hostel.
